Northern Lights could be visible in Yorkshire this week as solar storm hits Earth

This week, Yorkshire may have the opportunity to witness the Northern Lights due to a solar storm impacting Earth.

The Met Office has indicated that a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is expected to cause minor to moderate geomagnetic storms, which could enhance the visibility of the aurora borealis.

The best chances for viewing the Northern Lights are anticipated on the nights of September 3 and 4

Particularly in northern England, including Yorkshire, if the skies are clear.

The auroras are typically more visible in areas with minimal light pollution, making rural locations ideal for observation.

As solar activity peaks, the auroral oval can shift southward, allowing regions further from the Arctic Circle to experience this stunning natural phenomenon.

Stargazers in Yorkshire are encouraged to keep an eye on the northern horizon during these nights for a potential glimpse of the dazzling display
