4 Chiefs Still on Thin Ice Despite Surviving Roster Cuts

1. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR What's old became new again when the Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract on Monday.

The former USC playmajer was cut by the New England Patriots earlier this month after tallying just 260 receiving yards with a touchdown in the first season of a three-year, $33 million contract he signed last summer.

2. Skyy Moore, WR With Kadarius Toney and Justyn Ross sent packing, Skyy Moore has secured his spot on the Chiefs' 53-man roster. At least for now, anyway.

After a productive final year at Western Michigan, the Chiefs used a 2022 second-round pick to add Moore to their ranks. While the ex-Bronco has shown flashes of promise at various points, he's largely left much to be desired.

3. Jared Wiley, TE The Chiefs finalized their tight end depth chart with the release of Irv Smith Jr., who signed with the team back in free agency, on Tuesday

As a result, Travis Kelce, Noah Grey, and Jared Wiley will open the year as Kansas City's top TEs. When it comes to the aforementioned trio, I see Wiley — a 2024 fourth-rounder — as having the most to prove.

4. Christian Roland-Wallace, DB Chiefs insider Matt Derrick confirmed on Tuesday that undrafted free agent defender Christian Roland-Wallace made the team's initial 53-man roster.

The former Arizona/USC defensive back was signed by Kansas City back in May due to a lack of depth in the secondary following the offseason departures of L'Jarius Sneed and Mike Edwards.
