You're Probably Cutting Bell Peppers Wrong– Here's The Right Way

Prepare the Pepper Wash: Rinse the bell pepper under cold water to remove any dirt or wax.

Trim: Place the pepper on its side on a cutting board. Slice off about ½ inch from the top (stem end) and the bottom. This creates a stable base for cutting.

Remove the Core Stand the Pepper: Place the pepper upright on its trimmed bottom.

Cut Sides: Carefully slice down the sides of the pepper to remove the flesh in four sections, avoiding the core and seeds. This method prevents a messy seed explosion.

Cut into Desired Shapes Rings: If you want rings, you can cut the pepper horizontally into slices after removing the core.

Strips: For strips, lay the pepper pieces skin-side down and slice them lengthwise into strips. Diced: To dice, cut the strips crosswise into small pieces

Minimize Waste Use All Parts: Don’t discard the top and bottom pieces; these can be chopped and added to dishes or used in stocks.
